On July 21st, the Department of Culture declared Puerto Vallarta’s historic downtown center as a Cultural Heritage of Jalisco. With the focus on retaining the original historic architectural style of the area that known as “Old Town” Vallarta, the state is implementing protective measures on a state and federal level.
The protected area begins at the beginning of the Malecon by oldest hotel in the city, “Hotel Rosita”, and extends all the way into the residential Conchas Chinas area. Puerto Vallarta’s city center is recognized on a federal and global level as a charming, “most Mexican” beach destination in the country. Aside from the warm welcome that Vallartenses give to tourists, this also has a lot to do with the extraordinary Mexican architecture that extends throughout the area.
In recent years, Puerto Vallarta has grown not only as a top tourism destination, but has also grown to be one of the most desirable places to live for Mexicans and expats alike. However, protecting the city’s cultural heritage and architecture is important when it comes to preserving the original beauty of mountains, jungle and sea that has made Puerto Vallarta a global destination.
Experience the beauty of Vallarta’s cobblestone streets and colonial architecture while spending your visit in a luxury vacation rental or villa. Puerto Vallarta Villas offers exquisite architectural gems in the form of private luxury villas in Puerto Vallarta in the areas that have now been deemed a part of the protected area of the city.
