Celebrating Day of the Dead in Puerto Vallarta

Did you know that Day of the Dead has been declared by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity? On November 1^st and 2^nd of every year, the entire country comes together to celebrate and honor their departed loved ones.

Puerto Vallarta will be hosting its own Day of the Dead Festival from October 31^st to November 2^nd. As an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditions and culture of this unique celebration, if you’re in town this weekend we recommend you check out a few of the events. The festivities will include live music, cinema, a Catrina and Calavera contest, and the yearly altar exhibition along the city’s iconic Malecon boardwalk and Presidential Plaza. November 2^nd, the annual parade will begin at the 5 de Diciembre graveyard and end at Lázaro Cárdenas Park where you’ll have an opportunity to witness traditional Mariachi, folkloric ballet and more.
